Booklicious: Jaw-Dropping Book-Inspired Cakes

June 12, 2012

I featured a selection of book-inspired cakes back in 2010, but this time around I wanted to pull out some of the more disturbing examples I came across in my browsing (yes, these are jaw-dropping for a range of reasons, but there's a sampling of non-creepy cakes at the end to keep you going).

Nothing says romance like bloody stumps.

Or maybe you'd prefer a simpering Pooh waiting for you in your bathtub?

I'm pretty sure this isn't what Jesus had in mind when he said, "Take this and eat it, for this is my body."

Sometimes, a side of blood is just the thing to make a dry cake palatable.

Buy one, get nightmares free.

And to cleanse your palate:

Here's a Norton Anthology of English Literature cake, made to celebrate the books 50th anniversary http://cakes.keyartstudio.com/cake-blog/item/105-queen-elizabeth-1-cake.html

@ Manhattanistas: That cake is beautiful. The things people can do with food...

@Vashti: Apparently, you missed the point of this post.

Thanks, Miss Alf! Those are fab. I'll have to do a special for this festival alone.
