Gripe 1: I do not believe that Leo's Gatsby could fall for Carey's Daisy. Maybe it's because he's such a modelizer in real life, maybe it's because he seems sorely out of practice in his on-screen roles, maybe the two just don't have chemistry.
Gripe 2: Daisy is noted for her "low thrilling" voice. And Carey Mulligan really does have a lovely voice, in timbre and tone. But she's gone and pitched it higher for this role, ruining all that wonderful depth — why???
But you can bet I'll see this. It's Luhrmann+classic lit. How could I resist?
