Booklicious: Bookcase Wednesday

Because my famous-writers-as-Legos post has proved wildly popular, I thought I'd keep the Lego theme going with this week's bookcase post. This is the Skew bookcase by Swedish design firm Smansk, and it's exactly what I imagine a "nerdy" version of Barbie (she'd be given a pair of glasses and might wear flats instead of stilettos) would have in her Dream House.

The design in the designers' words:

The Skew Bookcase consists of identical modular components that are stacked facing alternate directions to create sloping shelves. To assemble it you just rotate the parts and place them on top of each other. Sloping shelves mean you do not have to arrange the shelves in various heights as with ordinary bookcases. There is room for binders at the high end of each shelve and pocket books at the low end.

You can check out more of Smansk's work - including its very cool redesign of the Vagabond Travel Bookshop - here
