December is a huge month for weighty adaptations - only one of the movies coming out this month doesn't have serious classic-lit credentials - Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor's quirky-looking I Love You Phillip Morris. Otherwise, Hollywood is taking on quite a few literary giants - it'll be interesting to see what audiences make of its efforts. Video after the jump!

Gulliver's Travels, starring Jack Black and Emily Blunt. Based on Jonathan Swift's 18th century satire. In theaters Dec. 22.


I Love You Phillip Morris, adapted from the book I Love You Phillip Morris: A True Story of Life, Love, and Prison Breaks by Steve McVicker. Starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. In theaters Dec. 3.


The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, starring Ben Barnes and Georgie Henley. Based on the book by C.S. Lewis. In theaters Dec. 10.


The Tempest, starring Helen Mirren, Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Chris Cooper, Ben Whishaw and Djimon Hounsou. Adapted from Shakespeare's play of the same name. In theaters Dec. 10.
