Booklicious: Book Gifts on the Cheap

November 29, 2010

The only thing better than giving a book as a holiday gift is giving a book that you shrewdly saved a bundle of cash on. And since we're now less than a month out from Christmas - can you believe it? - it's probably time to start working on that gift list.

Groupon's currently running a deal that will net you $40 worth of books from Simon and Schuster's online store for $20. What's especially great is that shipping's a flat $4.99, no matter how many books you order when you use your Groupon. Click here for the deal - but be quick about it. It ends tonight at midnight CST.

One of my favorite deal sites, Gilt, is featuring a selection of French-themed titles from Random House. Up for grabs is My Life in France by Julia Child, as well as her Mastering the Art of French Cooking and The French Chef Cookbook. There are also several titles about French decor, art, travel and learning the language, as well as shopping guides and fashion compendia at fabulously discounted prices. The sale ends Tuesday at 8 a.m. CST. Members know what to do; if you're not a member, click here.

One King's Lane just advertised deals on Everyman's Library gift collections from Random House. The sale includes sets of Dickens, Shakespeare, Wharton and Joyce, as well as collections of mystery, horror, Russian lit and children's classics, to name but a few. Prices range from $26 to $1,499. If you're not a member, you can join One King's Lane here.

And as always, you can click on the Coupons link at the top of this page for coupons and coupon codes to a host of bookseller sites. Happy shopping!
