Booklicious: Scent of a Writer: The Library Candle Collection

I've been really enjoying lighting a mass of candles in our apartment these fast-fading evenings. They impart such a dreamy, between-worlds atmosphere (not to mention that the shadows conceal the still-unfinished duct work in our walls), that it's possible to believe time slows ever so slightly while they're lit.

Happily for me, Michael shares my affection for candles, if not surpasses it. And so there is a distinct possibility that we may add these lit-themed scented candles to our collection. Although they don't quite have the dark magnetism of these literary scents, I'm still intrigued by the prospect of sniffing the essence of Poe et al. Will I catch a whiff of East Coast leaves and grass in Walt Whitman's scent? Will the Charles Dickens candle blacken my walls with authentic London grime? Will the floral Austen-inspired candle reveal an unexpectedly sharp base note?

If, like me, you're curious about how apt the candles are (and let's face it, they've probably completely mucked them up), then you can nab one at the Los Angeles Public Library's online store here. That'll be $24, please.

Thanks so much for mentioning our shop! And I can attest, these candles smell as good as they look!
