*Voting concludes tonight at midnight Pacific time for GalleyCat's Dancing with the Stars Facebook contest. The top three contenders are Claire Cook, Kathy L. Patrick and David Sedaris. (My money's on Sedaris for the win, but then again, he's the one I'm rooting for, so maybe my judgment is a bit clouded.)

*Tony Blair may have landed atop bestseller lists with his recently published memoirs, but the only literary prize he's currently in the running for is the Literary Review's bad sex award. The magazine's prize recognizes "poorly written , redundant or crude passages of a sexual nature." It's the first time a nonfiction book has been in the running for the award.

*A long-lost, never published Dr. Seuss manuscript has surfaced and is up for auction at Nate D. Sanders. It consists of 19 handwritten pages and drawings, many of them in Seuss' own hand, the rest in his assistant's. The current bid is $1.611. I say we find 19 people to chip in and we can each get a page...

*The writers of The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos say that Kurt Vonnegut, e.e. cummings and Shel Silverstein are the most drawn-from inspirations. (Browse some lit tats here!)

*Want to appear more well read but simply don't have the time (or stomach) to trudge through the thousands of pages it takes? The Guardian's John Crace has you covered. He's put together a list of the 100 classic reads of the 20th century in his lauded digest style. Get a taste of it here. And be prepared to let loose some embarrassing snorts.

Lovely about the tats. In Sunday School this week the teacher made use of Kurt Vonnegut's story diagrams. Odd, but she worked it. . . I couldn't resist chuckling, considering that the thoughtfully atheist Vonnegut isn't typical Sunday School material.

That's definitely one of the most, um, unorthodox applications of Vonnegut I've heard of. I wonder what he would have thought of it.
