Booklicious: Bookcase Wednesday

I think these bookcases are quite fitting for Halloween week. Although they look rather unassuming, even, dare we say it, boring, they've got a decidedly surprising side to them. These bookcases aren't just run-of-the-mill shelving - they moonlight as coffins. Yes, that's right - they're designed to hold both books and bodies (just not at the same time).

See for yourself:

So, what do you think? Is this an example of smart, economical living or a case of taking multipurposing a tad too far? And just in case you're skeptical, yes, both of these bookcase coffins are completely for real - and for sale. The combination wine rack/bookcase is designed and sold by New Zealand-based Final Furniture Limited. This coffin is part of its tenderrest casket line and comes in three sizes. The double bookcase comes from Maine group Last Things, which also manufactures an entertainment center coffin.

You can learn more about the combination bookcase/wine rack here, about the double bookcase here, and how to create your own bookcase coffin using an IKEA bookcase here. (Go on, I know you want to.)
